Seasoned vs Kiln Dried logs | Whats the difference?

Kiln dried logs are artificially dried to below 15% moisture, giving a hotter, cleaner burn. Our seasoned logs are stored undercover for over 12 months, averaging under 20% moisture. The barn dried logs are cheaper as they require less energy input to dry.

How long will my logs last?

Typically a bulk bag will last 6-8weeks when burning for a few hours in the evening. The loose truck load is worth 2.5 bulk bags so typically people ordering the loose load will use 1.5 loads a year. This is based on just burning in the evening, if your fire is lit for longer then you will use more logs.

Which Firewood Should You Buy?

Depends what you're burning it on, and what you want out of it.

Hardwood is the one most people are after. Ash, oak, birch. It's dense, so it burns slow and puts out steady heat for hours. Ideal for a log burner or multi-fuel stove you want ticking over all evening. Our 100% ash is about as good as hardwood gets, lights well and burns clean.

Softwood lights fast and burns hot, but it burns through quicker. Great for getting a fire going, taking the chill off, or an outdoor burner where you're not fussed about it lasting all night. Cheaper too.

Mixed gives you the best of both. Softwood to get going, hardwood to keep it there. If you can't decide, this is the safe pick.

Got a pizza oven or a chiminea? You want kiln dried hardwood, and ideally the thinner logs, they get up to temperature fast and there's no smoke ruining the food.
