Clean Logs

Description

The barn dried hardwood is a great value product, these logs are naturally dried to meet the “Ready to Burn” standard. The species in the hardwood consist of ash, oak and silver birch which provides are great variety of burn rates and characteristics.

The barn dried logs are not as dry as the kiln dried so will provide a slightly longer burn time, although not giving off so much heat as kiln dried logs.

All the ton bag of logs are delivered and left in the bulk bag so when delivered they are left neatly and create less mess. This quantity will fit into any of our “half size” log stores when stacked neatly.

A full log store is a happy sight 👍

With half my log store empty I thought it was time to top it up again ready for next winter. So as it was going to sit for a while before using I thought I’d try the barn dried mixed hardwood bag (normally go for the kiln dried version if I’m getting them in and burning straight away etc). To be fair the quality looked great and couldn’t tell the difference from the kiln dried with good sized logs, with a good variety of woods, oak, ash & birch. Main difference is they are £25 cheaper 👍 I have been using BCF for years now, always reliable and friendly. I ordered this bag on a Sunday afternoon on their website, by 7pm I got a text saying they can deliver on Monday morning between 9 & 10am. True to their word on my doorstep the very next day. Where else can you gat that type of service and reliability? Thanks guys 😀

Good product and good service

I’ve used BCFW for several years now because I’m very particular about quality of my firewood.
The wood is responsibly sourced and very well seasoned. I took a random moisture sample of my latest delivery and the moisture content was averaging 5% which is excellent, it gives a clean and efficient burn with little residue in the flue….
Highly recommend all log burning users burn responsibly and choose their supplier carefully….

Great Service, Great Wood!

Very easy to place order; Richard contacted me very quickly via tet to arrange delivery - for the next day! Arrived on time & very helpful delivery man! The logs are burning beautifully, clearly barn dried to perfection (no moisture). Nice big ones & a good bag full. I will definitely be ordering all my logs from Black Country Logs in future. I have tried from other places but these are definitely the best.

A great company to deal with

There are lots of cowboy outfits out there offering logs a bit cheaper than this company but as the saying goes, cheapest isn't always best. Having already had a bad experience with one load of logs last year and struggled to keep the fire alight, then being messed about by someone offering to deliver and never turning up, we decided to try Black Country Firewood. What a difference! I ordered and paid online in the morning, then within minutes I got a text to ask if they could deliver the same afternoon. They turned up on the dot and I could see that the bags were full almost to overflowing. The logs are split well and just the right size for burning in our stove. A great local company that are a pleasure to deal with.

God burn

It's been a little on the warm side so the logs are waiting for October,
when I know they will be great, as they always are. We have never bought logs from anywhere else since we had our log burner about 10 years ago.

The bag is indeed all hardwood, no bits of soft lurking in there. The delivery guy is super helpful and drags the bag into the garage for me. Great service.

A pleasant surprise

This is the first time I have tried barn dried logs. My usual order has always been kiln dried logs. So far, I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two sets of logs; and a further bonus is that they are cheaper! So what’s not to like. Service from this company is next none. Always happy to meet all needs as far as possible. Great guys.

Are the logs left in the bulk bag?

Yes. We leave the logs in the bag so they are left nice and tidy when delivered.

Do you charge for the bags?

We do not charge for the bag as we like to have them returned so we can either re-use or recycle them depending on their condition. We will collect the empty bag when we deliver next time.

Do I need to be in to receive delivery?

No, payment can be made over the phone or via the website and we can drop off in a suitable place.

How long will bulk firewood bags and loose trailer loads of logs last?

On average, if you light your fire 4-5 nights a week (typically from 5pm to 9pm), a standard bulk firewood bag will last between 6 to 8 weeks.

For customers who prefer a larger supply, a loose trailer load of logs is the most efficient choice; most of our local customers find that 1.5 trailer loads provide enough heating for an entire winter season.

Naturally, this depends on the efficiency of your stove and whether you are burning high-heat kiln dried ash or seasoned hardwood.

How dry are the logs?

Our Barn dried are around 18% moisture and Kiln dried are around 12% moisture
Anything under 20% is classed as ready to burn.

What is the difference between kiln & barn dried logs?

Kiln dried are force dried (around 15% moisture) and burn hotter and more efficiently, they are recommended for burning on new stoves. Barn dried are naturally dried (around 20% moisture) and will burn for longer but not hotter, they are recommended for open fires and older stoves.

How soon do you deliver?

We are normally only a couple of working days away and will give you a 1 hour timed delivery slot, sometimes we can even deliver the same day! For example we will arrange to be with you on Wednesday between 9-10am.

Can you deliver multiple items at the same time?

Yes, we can deliver a log store and the logs at the same time. We can also deliver up to 6 bulk bags or 3 loose loads with one truck, and can use up to 4 trucks if required.

How is delivery arranged?

Once the order is received from the website we will text or phone with our soonest availability, if that time/day is not suitable we will arrange a mutually suitable delivery slot. Or speak to us on the phone to book a slot.

What if it is raining?

The delivery vehicles are sheeted so the bags and loads are covered from the rain. If the logs do get rained on once unloaded it is only the external moisture that is affected and it will easily dry off.

Where is best to store my logs?

All the logs we sell are ready to burn, so they do not need to be stored in a traditional log store with airflow. They can be kept in a garage or storage box. Logs can also be stored outside; while the external surface may pick up some moisture, the internal part stays dry, which is what matters for burning. That said, the drier you keep your logs, the better they will perform.
